Mammography screening and breast cancer mortality in Sweden.

Autier P, Koechlin A, Smans M et al.
The Swedish Two-County Trial, which was conducted from 1977 to 1984, showed that screening by two to four rounds of single-view mammography every 24–33 months could reduce the breast cancer-specific mortality rate by 31% in women aged 40–74 years at the initial invitation (Lancet 1985;1:829–32).
