Current Concepts in the Chemoprevention of Colorectal Cancer with Aspirin, NSAIDs, and COX-2 Inhibitors

Colorectal cancer is one of the commonest malignancies in the United Kingdom. Recently, there has been much speculation regarding the role of aspirin, non-aspirin non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors in the chemoprevention of this disease. Effective chemoprevention must be balanced with acceptable toxicity from long-term use of these medications.
