Women with disorders of the vulva, in addition to actual physical discomfort, will often experience severe embarrassment or anxiety, either through fear of cancer, sexually transmitted disease, or disruption of normal sexual relations. These factors may cause reluctance to seek medical advice, and self-treatment is common. We believe this group of patients is best managed in a multidisciplinary clinic comprising dermatologists, gynecologists, and genitourinary physicians, with access to expert psychosexual counseling if required,
