Treatment of Perianal Crohn’s Disease

The last few years have seen an increase in the medical armamentarium available for treatment of Crohn’s disease (CD), including the wider use of a variety of biological therapies. Despite this, however, the treatment of perianal CD (PCD) remains a major challenge for physicians and surgeons alike. In the present article, the authors will examine the incidence, evaluation, and treatment of PCD. While a multidisciplinary approach is increasingly being employed to manage this disease, the focus here will be on surgical treatment strategies.
