Endoscopic Management of Gastric Varices

D Datta
Hillingdon Hospital, London, UK

Gastric variceal bleeding is a serious complication of portal hypertension and is associated with a high morbidity and mortality. Gastric varices are the source of bleeding in 10–30% of patients presenting with variceal haemorrhage [1]. Early endoscopy is essential both to make the diagnosis and to perform therapeutic procedures.
