Gregory Pastores’s review: Disruption of autophagy has been implicated in several lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs). For instance, in Niemann–Pick disease type C, a neurodenegerative LSD, autophagymediated lysosomal cholesterol inhibits proteolytic activity (Hum Mol Genet 2012;21:4876–87).
