Editor’s note: The treatment of patients with high-risk prostate cancer is still a controversial issue because of the lack of conclusive studies comparing outcomes of palliative treatment with curative treatment, namely radiotherapy and radical prostatectomy. The authors of this study, which is mainly based on data from the National Prostate Cancer Register of Sweden, investigated the influence of curative treatment on cause-specific mortality in men diagnosed with prostate cancer with serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels between 20 ng/mL and 100 ng/mL.
