 Ann Rheum Dis 2010;69:332–6.

This study evaluated the incidence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other chronic arthritides (OCA) during the post partum period. Two time-periods were compared: 0–24 months and 25–48 months post partum. RA and OCA were found to develop similarly frequently during the first 2 years post partum – the period during which the incidence of disease is most frequent (compared with the subsequent 2 years).

The incidence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is known to increase post partum; therefore, this study aimed to analyze frequencies of onset of other chronic arthritides (OCA) after delivery, and to compare these with that of RA.
