Although Candida spp. are the most commonly implicated fungal species associated with fungal peritonitis, other fungi have been encountered. Various Trichosporon spp. have been associated with human disease. A patient with Trichosporon peritonitis following duodenal perforation is presented in this case report.

 

Although Candida spp. are the most commonly implicated fungal species associated with fungal peritonitis, other fungi have been encountered. Trichosporon spp. are ubiquitous fungi that are found in the soil and commonly colonize the skin and the gastrointestinal tract. Various Trichosporon spp. have been associated with human disease. In this report, a patient from India presenting with Trichosporon beigelii peritonitis is discussed.
